Milton Schorr was born in 1981 in Cape Town, South Africa. He attended the University of Cape Town as a student of theatre, thereafter creating theatre works across South Africa.

As a writer and actor he has received the Imbewu Scriptwriting award for his play The Heroin Diaries, and both the ‘iDidTht Best of Reel for Direction Craft’ and ‘Vimeo Staff Pick’ award for the short film detailing his youth, Surrender. His MMA based screenplay This Is African MMA is currently in development, and he has appeared in blockbuster Hollywood productions such as Netflix’s global number one show One Piece (Don Krieg), Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Outlander, Tomb Raider, and Redeeming Love.

He is a renowned travel and sports writer, with credits in many of South Africa's major publications. His first novel Strange Fish won the ‘Best Novel’ award at the SA Independent Publisher Awards 2021. A Man Of The Road is his second.

Milton Schorr hitchhikes from Cape Town to Bloemfontein, stopping off in the town of Springfontein to visit the Boer War memorial, on a mission to return a wreath to the grave of an unknown English soldier, borrowed twenty years before. 

Schorr has hitchhiked the world: Cape Town to Victoria Falls, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Egypt, Europe and Australia. His second novel, A Man Of The Road, tells the story of Little Mikey, a young boy from the mythical West Coast town of Freeburg, who must one day set out on an epic hitchhiking journey to Africa’s greatest city: Goldtown.

LIFE STORY

Author Milton Schorr discovered narcotics as a boy, and by the age of 15 was a committed drug user. Surrender, conceived and directed by Porteus Xandau, is Milton’s life story adapted to film.
